Kathy Barrett began her career in the Fashion, Music and Film Industries working for Calvin Klein and Yves St. Laurent Menswear, Paramount Pictures and Miramax Films. Although her earlier opportunities presented themselves on the business side, the artist within wished to emerge.  Producer Sherry Fell invited her to create three programs for the LEGENDS series on MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) Internet Radio.  It was in developing and hosting these shows on singers Celia Cruz, Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell and Dinah Washington that awakened her to the possibilities of radio.

Her latest venture, “Behind The Curtain,” is a socially conscious Internet radio program, the intention of which is to build a global network of individuals interested in self-transformation. The show’s concept is to create awareness about the magnificence of who we are and who we can be when we focus positive energy individually and collectively. BTC uplifts and informs without religious connotation. Like a beautiful painting that inspires us, listeners are given a portrait of the guest’s process from realization to metamorphosis. BTC’s guest speakers constitute an array of fascinating people who share their stories as part of their own healing process.  They relate how they have turned adversity into opportunity. The lessons learned inspired them to design lives that they love and to join the larger conversation of how to better serve humanity.

Kathy Barrett’s goal is to replicate the show format globally, inviting women from around the world who have no platform to speak, to find their voice through the BTC model. Kathy believes that we are one family - the human family. When hearts are connected, we create peace inside ourselves and in the world.

On a personal note, Kathy is currently writing her first book “Emotional Tsunami: Surviving The Suicide Of A Loved One” and is dedicated to suicide prevention.

As someone who has struggled to find her own voice, she is committed to lighting the way for others as they seek to find theirs.  Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Be the change you want to see,” Kathy’s hope is that “Behind The Curtain” will be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who tune in.
